Integrative Health Policy Consortium
The Integrative Health Policy Consortium (IHPC) is a broad coalition of healthcare professionals, consumers, patients, educators, and business leaders working to give Americans full access to high-quality integrative healthcare. For patient-centered, prevention-oriented health care to flourish, many core public policies that govern today’s healthcare system must be fundamentally redesigned. It is IHPC's mission to advocate for public policy that eliminates barriers to health. Learn more about IHPC or DONATE here.
Moving Beyond Medications: A Pocket Guide
In response to the current public health crisis of opioid abuse, overdose and death, many organizations have issued guidelines for treating pain, including the former Surgeon General’s “Turn the Tide” campaign. Similar to other guidelines, this campaign recommends non-pharmacological approaches as first line pain treatment, with opioids to be considered only if these and non-opioid pharmacological treatments are ineffective. This document expands upon those recommendations to help clinicians and their patients with this approach.
