HEAL THE HEALER:
CULTIVATING RESILIENCE IN HEALTHCARE

January 6-8, 2023

WHO HEALS

THE HEALER?

This workshop is designed for health professionals who are experiencing stress and/or burnout, and are looking for compassion, relief, recovery and joy. You will have the opportunity to learn skills to improve emotional well-being and resilience for yourself and to share with the healthcare team you work with.

Current research highlights an epidemic of stress and burnout in healthcare providers. This workshop is designed to be a sanctuary and learning opportunity for anyone who has been providing care during the COVID pandemic. We will review research and explore the impact of COVID-19 on ourselves as healers, as well as, learn self-care practices to build resilience to nurture the healer within. The agenda will include didactic, experiential, small group, and dyad formats to optimize both cognitive and embodied learning, as well as, create opportunities to share and more deeply connect with each other.

This workshop will provide you with a framework for self-healing and living with greater resilience through integrating science with contemplative psychology, mindfulness, and somatic experience practices. The goal of this curriculum is to empower you with skills and practices that will help you more effectively navigate stress, experience greater meaning and joy in your work, and be more present in caring for your patients, as well as, being with loved ones and yourself. You can take these practices back to your health care team to improve the environment you work in.

Please be prepared to engage in a variety of practices throughout this workshop. No prior yoga or meditation experience is required.

FAQ

Is there Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit available for this retreat?
No. CME/CE credit is not available for this retreat.
What health + safety guidelines will be in place at the retreat?
At AIHM we believe in treating the whole person: body, mind, emotions, and spirit. We honor the many Global Healing Traditions and believe that creating health requires a multi-disciplinary approach. We also believe in evidence-based health and medicine and have a vested interest in public health for all. While we encourage our community to continue the natural healing methods that support a healthy immune system and terrain, we also recognize the COVID-19 vaccines as one opportunity to reduce mortality, suffering and the sometimes, long-term illness caused by COVID-19.

AIHM’s 2022 Health + Safety Policies are:

  • Effective March 1, 2022, California has lifted its mask mandate for indoor spaces. As such, AIHM will not be requiring participants to wear a mask at the retreat.
  • AIHM strongly encourages, but will not require, unvaccinated attendees to wear a face mask in all indoor public settings.
  • AIHM will not require retreat attendees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
  • AIHM strongly encourages all retreat attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to attending the in-person event.

Since this situation remains fluid, we will be adapting our plans as needed.  Our protocols will reflect the most current advice and best practices and evolve based on state and federal guidance.
