Be the Change in Health Care: Become an Integrative Health Policy Advocate!

AIHM and the Integrative Health Policy Consortium are working together to help advance whole-person integrative health care forward in Washington, D.C. Logo of the Integrative Health Policy ConsortiumIf you are passionate about bringing change to the state of health care in our country, get involved today as a policy advocate. Here is what you can do to help:

Step 1. Find your House representative and CALL both their district and Washington, D.C., offices. Here is the link to look up your representative: https://ihpc.rallycongress.net/ctas/advance-integrative-healthcare

Step 2. Use these talking points for the call. BEGIN WITH YOUR PERSONAL STORY. Explain why you are passionate about your representative joining the caucus. Be brief, but make sure they know that as a constituent this is very important to you!

"Hello, my name is ____, and my ZIP code is _____. I am a constituent of Rep. ____. I’d like to talk to someone in his office that deals with health care.

"As your constituent, I am urging you to support an important new bipartisan effort in Congress: The Congressional Integrative Health and Wellness Caucus. To join the caucus, please contact Bo Morris at 202-225-2161. Thank you so much for your time!”

Step 3. Follow up with an email. Email your representative, state that you called about the Integrative Health and Wellness Caucus. Encourage them to JOIN the Integrative Health and Wellness Caucus by emailing Kallie Guimond at drkallieguimond@gmail.com.

That’s it. Take 20 minutes of your time and make a small step toward improving health care in our country to include integrative health and wellness services.

Invest in Yourself – Financial Strategies for the AIHM Fellowship

Image of fingers typing on a calculator The AIHM Fellowship is an exciting opportunity to become a part of the future of health care. The Fellowship program can revitalize burned-out healthcare practitioners and provide healers with new tools that can be immediately translated into practice. This Fellowship experience is crafted for the busy practitioner who wants training in integrative health care within a diverse group of individuals who share a common passion.

At AIHM, we aim to make the Fellowship an affordable education option. We offer a quarterly payment plan to assist with budgeting for this once-in-a-lifetime investment for you and your patients.

Here are some tips on how to make the Fellowship financially feasible:

  1. Use Continuing Education Benefits.
Many employers offer an allotment for annual continuing education as part of your employee benefits. If this is part of your benefits plan, ask to use these funds toward the Fellowship tuition.
  2. Ask for Employer Sponsorship.
If your organization doesn’t provide funding for continuing education as a standard benefit, ask if they would be willing to sponsor your attending the program or pay for a portion of tuition. In exchange, they can position themselves as a forward-thinking medical center and you can serve as the Integrative Medicine representative at your organization.
  3. Apply for an AIHM Scholarship.
We offer a limited number of scholarships based on factors such as financial need, past or present military service, working with underserved communities, and the ability to grow the practice of integrative medicine in a variety of settings.
  4. Use a 0% Interest Credit Card Offer.
Do you have good credit? If so, apply for a 12-24 month 0% interest credit card and use those funds to help pay for the Fellowship. Choose a card with a bonus points system and earn points while expanding your education.

To learn more about our Fellowship Program, reach out to our Fellowship Team today at fellowship@aihm.org.
